Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will release for PC and consoles in Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions on December 3. Additionally, fans can now pre-order the title’s Standard, Steelbook and Deluxe Trapezoid Physical Editions. Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will also introduce an all-new self-contained campaign at launch: The Tarnished Mirror.
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered is a modern revival of the groundbreaking classic from Looking Glass Studios that helped define the stealth genre. Remastered with Nightdive Studios’ KEX Engine, the release includes Thief: The Dark Project, the additional missions, content and updates from the 1999 Thief Gold re-release and the all-new narrative campaign, The Tarnished Mirror.
Made by the acclaimed creators of Thief: The Black Parade, one of the most ambitious fan-made expansions in PC gaming history, The Tarnished Mirror is designed to feel immediately familiar, serving as a bridge between Thief: The Dark Project and Thief II: The Metal Age. Steadily introducing new factions, environments and Lovecraftian horror, this premium story expansion is built entirely using the technology and visual language of the remaster, pushing scale and atmosphere beyond the original game’s limits while preserving its identity. This collaboration marks a rare industry moment, with Nightdive and Eidos-Montréal welcoming a community creation directly into official canon.
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered is also compatible with player-created mods, including The Black Parade.
Within The Tarnished Mirror, a seemingly straightforward theft spirals into imprisonment, uneasy alliances and a descent into a drowned, R’lyeh-like necropolis. Players will experience an expanded enemy roster, ambitious level design and a pure Thief experience that descends into unsettling, otherworldly horror.
