Heroes of Might and Magic III will return

Dateline: 8/26/2026

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027.

From Ubisoft:

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake offers endless hours of epic adventure, elevating the original’s timeless gameplay to modern standards and delivering its iconic blend of turn-based strategy, RPG hero progression, and tactical grid combat. Building on that foundation, the remake introduces a range of quality-of-life improvements and new features, such as enhanced planning and decision-making tools, making for a more intuitive experience while staying faithful to the original.

Rebuilt from the ground up in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake trades the original’s fixed 2D isometric perspective for a highly detailed 3D world and free camera control. Paired with 4K visuals, dynamic lighting, real-time weather, and shifting seasons, this visual overhaul breathes new life into Erathia’s classic biomes and battlefields for both newcomers and returning fans.

Across these living landscapes, players will join Queen Catherine on her crusade to restore order to her kingdom, torn apart by her father's assassination and the onslaught of invading factions. Packed with the entire content of the original game and its two expansions: Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death, Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake includes all nine iconic factions and original campaigns. The entire story is now woven into a single continuous experience, complemented by a new introductory prologue campaign easing players into the world and gameplay, and a new suite of fully produced cinematics.

Playable solo or with up to eight players in a revamped online mode, improved matchmaking and a simultaneous turn system, the game also sees the return of the fan-favorite Hot Seat mode.

“Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake is our way of highlighting the rich legacy of the 1999 original and updating that experience for a new generation of players,” said Xavier Poix, Senior Vice President, Ubisoft, who leads the studios behind the game’s development. “The remake gave us the perfect foundation to expand upon an already beloved game while setting the stage for the franchise’s next chapter.”

Honoring the franchise's deep community roots, the remake preserves compatibility with thousands of maps and campaigns created by players over the past 25 years, allowing fans to revisit the community's rich legacy from day one. Updated editor tools and a new in-game UGC hub will also make it easier than ever to discover, download, and share community-created content.

As players traverse through different Maps, they will be greeted by a modern audio system, featuring voice acting, layered tracks, and rich, ambient sound effects, drawing them deeper into the game’s atmospheric world. New sonic cues tied to gameplay actions, including combat, spellcasting, and morale shifts, reinforce the feel of the original game while striking a delicate balance between nostalgia and modernity, perfectly encapsulating the tone of the remake.

Alongside today’s announcement, Ubisoft revealed that Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete is now available for purchase on Steam, marking the first time the Complete version of the original classic has been released on the platform.
