The third major Early Access update for Dragonkin: The Banished was released today.

From NACON:

Eko Software and NACON are proud to announce the launch of the third major update for Dragonkin: The Banished. This crucial step in the game's evolution introduces several improvements that have been requested by the community throughout its Early Access period. Players can enjoy it starting today on Steam. Additionally, the studio is offering a chance to preview the new online co-op mode, currently in development, through an open beta.

In Dragonkin: The Banished, players embody one of four available dragon hunters with the objective of freeing humanity from the invading draconic forces. To meet this challenge, the game offers deep theorycrafting through various character enhancement mechanics, giving enthusiasts endless build possibilities. Players develop their hero's abilities through a unique skill system called the Ancestral Grid by associating fragments obtained during their adventure. They also benefit from the City of Montescail, a true hub that allows them to implement their strategy thanks to numerous services. Accompanied by their faithful dragonets, they discover an intriguing story as well as an endgame rich in activities and especially epic battles.

While awaiting the game's final release, scheduled for PC on March 16 and on consoles on March 19, the new update brings significant improvements based on community feedback:

  • A new, clearer, and simpler progression system for the City of Montescail.
  • A complete overhaul of skills and their energy costs, moving away from the Generator/Spender system.
  • The unique skill system, named the Ancestral Grid, has been revised to optimize its functionality, offering players the ability to create more effective builds.

Furthermore, the open beta for the online co-op mode provides a glimpse of all the new possibilities the game will offer in its 1.0 release:

  • Players can now go through the main story and endgame content in groups of 2 to 4 players, with shared progression for the entire team.
  • As the nerve center of this experience, the City of Montescail serves as a dynamic social hub that can host multiple players per city. The city improves through the actions carried out by all players.
  • Cooperation is at the heart of the gameplay with mutual assistance mechanics, such as the ability to revive a teammate, instantly teleport to their side, or trade items between players.
